Operate-a-Loco Program puts YOU in the
engineer’s seat.
At the controls of one of our
diesel-electric or steam locomotives.
YOU
operate the throttle! YOU operate the
brakes! YOU are the engineer!!
Why just sit in an
excursion car or caboose when you can be in the
cab at the controls of the locomotive?
Experience the thrill of being the engineer!

available in the Gift Shop at the Bonsal Depot
or telephone the Yard Office 919-362-5416
any
Saturday or Sunday to speak to the agent on
duty.
They make a great gift
for that special railfan in your life!
Operating dates include
the first Saturday and third Sunday of each
month from May to November.

The
New Hope Valley Railway
reserves the right to substitute equipment,
and
cancel or reschedule these events as required by
operating necessities
All operations in
the Operate-a-Loco Program are handled under the
direct supervision of a qualified New Hope
Valley Railway senior engineer, and are
subject to the following terms and conditions: All operators
must be at least eighteen (18) years old, and
possess a valid driving license. Only one rider is
permitted to accompany the operator in the cab
of the locomotive. All riders
accompanying the trip must be at least twelve
(12) years old. Operators and
riders are subject to all applicable laws,
rules, and regulations.
